Tackling Against Poverty

We are committed to ensuring the costs related to our school are minimised.

As part of the Monmouth Cluster of schools, we have developed a strategy to support this.

At Osbaston, we have identified key actions this year to support this:

  • Work with learners to develop a wish list of free/ low-cost experiences across primary school to update our commitment/ offer to all learners
  • HT/ Administrator undertake Annual review of cost of school with due diligence of travel costs
  • Further develop freeschoolclothes.com/  website to promote sharing of other items beyond uniform to include shoes, coats, wellies etc.
  • Ongoing promotion of pre-loved uniform through PTFA social media and school newsletter
  • School exploration of grant opportunities to enhance curriculum experiences for all learners
  • All Y4/ Y6 Learners to participate in cluster sporting events for free
  • Continued commitment to providing free sanitary products to staff and older pupils
  • Maintain no cash in school through donation opportunities for charity events
  • Provide no cost/ low-cost options for any school linked celebratory events including swap shops  (e.g. St David’s Day, Book Day, Xmas Jumpers)
  • Ensure families are provided with access to all information linked to grants, funding, opportunities to support
  • Advertise free events for families for holiday periods to support low income/ FSM learners with experiences
  • Engage with Monmouth Repair Café with community volunteers to host event to encourage repairing of items for free
